Piano End Grain Cutting Board
Piano End Grain Cutting Board
This end grain cutting board is crafted from Black Walnut, Cherry, and Maple hardwoods.
DIMENSIONS: 18” x 12” x 1.5”
All Piano board designs made by Broad Levee Boards feature a four diamond book-matched end grain pattern as a signature style.
How is this done? Well, the dark brown color typical of Walnut comes from the innermost portion of the tree known as "heartwood". The outermost portion of the tree, known as "sapwood", is a much lighter color. During the construction of this cutting board, sections of Walnut containing both heartwood and sapwood are arranged carefully to create four diamonds spaced along the length of the piano board. Fifteen separate glue-up steps are done in succession to make this beautiful board.
Hand holds are routed into the ends and rubber feet are mounted with stainless steel screws. This board features a juice groove around 3/4 of the top surface. Also, a bevel is routed along the underside of the piano key edge for aesthetic effect that makes the keys look real. (Another Broad Levee Boards signature)
Due to the unique characteristics of individual hardwood boards, the cutting board pictured here represents the style of this Piano End Grain cutting board. One can expect subtle differences in grain pattern to the pictured board, but great lengths will be taken to match it as close as possible.
