The handcrafting of custom cutting boards, butcher blocks, charcuterie boards and other wooden cookware is an art form unto itself. This piano end grain cutting board is getting there. Hand holds, juice groove, key-chamfer undercut, and finish sanding ahead.

I love these boards. This "Claiborne" cutting board shipped out a few days ago.
The two "Claiborne" end grain boards all shaped and finish sanded to 320. The woods in these boards are Walnut, Maple, Cherry, Morado, and Padauk.
I put the squeeze on two "Claiborne" end grain boards. It'll be a few days before I can get back to cleaning things up.
It's been around a year since I've made a "Claiborne" end grain board and I've been saving the last long lengths of this super-red Padauk just for these. Next up is the crosscuts.
Finished up. Here's one of the most recent Maple, Cherry, and Walnut end grain boards.
Finish sanded, branded, and just about ready for oil. This end grain design turned out really nice and the ability to do multiple styles in the same batch is a bonus.

I haven’t always been a woodworker.

Sure, I’ve always built things here and tinkered with (broke) things there, but it wasn’t until 2013 or so that I finally put a shop together and really started learning the craft. Over that time, I’ve remained a bartender in the French Quarter of New Orleans full time and a woodworker on the side. Someday, I hope to do this thing that I love all the time. So to that end, from my woodwork shop in the 9th Ward, I present Broad Levee Boards.
